The Truth About Alice by Jennifer Mathieu
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

No spoilers and colorful language abound! I received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Meh. This entire story was fucking stupid. The only two aspects of this book that spoke me, even a little was Kurt and the ugliness of the characters. Everyone and everything else can suck it, especially Alice. So here is the deal, this hot mess is is told from five different perspectives in first person narrative, we've got Elaine, Kelsie, Josh, Kurt and finally Alice.

It has been eight days since I finished this series. I haven't read anything since, I've been avoiding my lap top and by proxy avoiding writing this review. It has taken binge watching Star Trek and Pride and Prejudice to pull me out of this slump. You see, I was not mentally prepared for this to be the final installment of the series. The plot indicated that it was in fact the end, but I read the synopsis several times over and held out blind hope that it was impossible because it says absolutely nothing about this being the finale.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So true story, if I had started reading this series at any other point in my life I'd hate it. Jane's split personalities, her shameless embrace of all things corny as fuck, the angst. I don't even know where to start discussing all the things about this that is annoying, because they simply aren't to me. Something is deeply wrong here folks, I find it all endearing and humorous. This time of year is always a little hectic for me and it's just fucking nice to read a book that doesn't shred my insides into bits and leave me a weeping ball of pajamas. Not only does it not hold me emotionally hostage and unable to function but it's also very interesting. This world is fantastic and each books exposes a new layer into her world!

Tempest Rising (Jane True, #1)
This is exactly what I want to be reading right now. Do you know how rare that is? To randomly stumble upon a book series that is perfectly tuned into your headspace and suddenly you are all "screw your TBR shelf, I'mma crawl into this world and stay here". Alright, I didn't really get down to it in the first book review because I was busy having a feminist rant so let's try again.
I straight up like Jane True. She's a halfling; half-human + half-selkie, she is loyal and sincere, a little awkward and corny as fuck, she also has a thing for man nipples and makes no apologies. She has little chats with her libido and embraces all the things that make her, her . She is refreshing, it is so fucking nice to read an MC who doesn't hate herself.

I'm hovering around a 3.4 but rounding up for good feels.

When I saw this cover awhile back I immediately wanted this series. I enjoy a book that exudes it's personality in the cover art and provides you with a good sense of where it is headed.

Girly, quirky, kitschy, humorous.
